SACRED CONGREGATION OF RITES.

The scssio.i held by the Sacred Congi'ogatioi of Kites at the Vatican on the 21st instant brings vividly to one's mind the name of the ill-fated Abbe do Lamemiais, for the iirst cause discussed by the Cardinals who compose the Congregation was that of tho beatification and canonisation of J'oan Marie Kobcrt do Lameiwais, founder of the Congregation and of the Sisters of Christian Instruction and of tho Sisters of Divine Providence of S.iinl. Briene, who was a brother of tho famous Abbe. The other business submitted to'Wie Cardinals concerned the approbation of an Office in honour of Blessed Antonio Manzoni; the choice, of thtj Immaculate Virgin ns patron of tho diocese of Crookton; tho revision of the writings of the Voncrablo Louisa Borgiotti, so-foundress of tho Sisters of Jcsjs of Nazareth, and ,if the writings left by Father Raphael Captior, and his companions of the Dominical Order. In France this last cause will l>;? of particular interest, inasmuch as Pero Captior was shot at Paris as a hostage in 1871 by the Communists. Pero Raphael was a brother of tho late Pore Raphael Capticr, who as Superior of the Procura of S. Sulpico, ilome, was widely known in the city.—"Catholic Times."
