THE STRANDED WAIRAU. Diver Smith has practically succeeded in blocking tho hole in the stranded Wairau. in the Manawatu Diver. The pumnincr nlaiit arrived yceterday morning, and it' is expected that the Wairau will bo alloat by Sunday. The pump is of the centrifugal type, with a «in. pulaorocter, and the power is obtained from tho Speedwell engine on deck, pumping taking effect in the forepart of the ship. Representations have been made to the Marino D?partmont that sailing yachts in Wellington Harbour frequently do not comply with the regulations for preventing collisions' at c.'a, and the harbour regulations. It is stated that they frequently cross tho bows of steamers that are coming in and going out of tho port, and that, in some cases, collisions have nearly been caused by tho practice.
