Gcorgetti, 11. T. Ellinpham, and V.'m. M'Lcnnan. Mr. I'. J. Jones attended with-reference to the proposed transfer of Section 5, Ohokunc (G aero?) to 1,. G. Abel, which transfer had been declined at the last meeting. It was decided that tho transfer would be recommended when the improvements are effected. The following titles were approved-.— Section 1. 131ock VI, Makotukn, -M acres, A.. E. Allaway; Secfion 53, Block XV, lli'iitapu, l<B iicvcs 1 rcods 21 porches, Mrs. H. Hall. Mr. R. Cheyne applied to bo allowed lo obtain tho freehold of Section 21, Block XXI, . Apili, 145 acres, and it was resolved to pass the application when the six years' residence had keen completed, twelve months hence. . With reference, to .Mr. John Harvey's application for the freehold title of Sections 2!) and 30, Block XIV, Tnrormi, 250 acres, the Commissioner supplied information as to tho fulfilment of the residential conditions oil tho sections. The board decided to postpone the matter for further information, leavintr the matter in the Commissioner's hands to pass if satisfactory. A report' was received on Miss G. M. Guthrie's armlication for the freehold of Section 12, Block XIV, Hautapu, 200 acres, nnd it was resolved to approve the application after full residence has been complied with. ilifs H. Punch applied to obtain the freehold title of Sections 282 nnd 284, Rcietihi Village Settlement, 10 acres 1 rood 10 poles, iu terms of Section 177 of The Land Act, 1908, and it was resolved to appoint Mr. H. Lundius, Crown Lands Ranger, to make the necessary valuation. The Commissioner reported thnt Mr. F. Dodunski, lessco of Section 76, Maminui Village Settlement, had not paid the appraised value of the section, in terms of Section 177 of Tho Land Act, 1008, within the twelve months required. His solicitor wrote explaining the circumsatnees which showed that if was not owing to Mr. Dodunski's fault that the money was not paid within the necessary time, and it wp.s resolved, under the circumstances, to allow him to nay the capital sum, aud lo recommend the Minister to approve of tii-e issuo of the title. Mr. AV. J. P. Crawford and H. Pndscy applied for permission to withdraw their application for Section 97, Block VIII, Bplmont, Normandale. Settlement, as, after .having visited and inspected tho land, they find it is quite unsuitable for their. purposes. Tho matter was left to the .Commissioner to deal with if he has the power. .Mr. G. Hyde, lessee of Section.'lß,'Block X, Aohnngn, 200 acres, applied to obtain the freehold title, and it was resolved Mr. J. B. F. Messrs. J. Venters and J. D. W. M'Beth applied to transfer Section 1, Block VIII, Retuuke, 999 acres 2 roods, to T. W. and, J. W.' Ireland, and if. ,was resolved to pass the transfer, subject to tho ranger's report to tho Commissioner being satisfactory. .
Mr. W. M'Allister applied to transfer Section 2, Block VI, ..Kaitieke, 400 acres, to P. M'lntosh and J. S. Murphy, and it was resolved to approve, on account of ill-liealth.

Mr. J. .White, applied fo transfer Section 7, Block VI, Manngakarctu, 111) acres, to Mr, P; J. Gallagher, and it was resolved to approve as soon as tho license issues. . A report was received from the Crown Lands Ranger on the proposed transfer of Section 35, Mangawcka Village Settlement, 7 acres 3 roods SO perches, to Mr. E. W. M'Kenzie, and it was resolved to decline the request on account of family aggregation. ■ Mr. C. Rock applied to transfer Section 35 (Paris 1 and 2), Block VII, Tararua, 201 acres, to Mr. Samuel Smith, lessee of Section 33, adjoining (200 acres).—Transfer approved. • . Mr. F. J. Wilkinson, part, licensee of Section 7, Block V, Mauganui, IIG4 acres, applied to transfer his interest to • his partner, Mr. Thomas Wilkinson, and it was resolved to obtain a report from tho Crown Lands Ranger. Mr. A. Hadley applied to trausfer Section 7, Block VIII, Whirinaki, 1224 acres, -to Messrs. T. Blair and T. Welch, and it was.resolved to decline, and, as he stated that' no improvements had been effected, to call upon him to show cause w'iy his interest should not be declared forfeit. Mr. J. 1 , . Bowles applied to transfer Section 60, Horowhenua Village Settlement, 13 acres 2 roods 7 perches, to Mr. J. Sigley, and it was resolved to-obtain a report from the down Lands Ranger, Mr. W. H. risk applied to transfer Section 4a. Block XI, ■ Mangahao, 123 acres 0 roods 8 perches, to Mr. G. Gregory, lessee of Section 3a of Lot 2, 56 aere9 o'roods 25 perches, adjoining.—lt was decided to decline tho application on account of tho aggregation of the family. Mr. P. Peterson applied to transfer Section 27, Block VI, • Tirirnnkawi, 176 acres, to Mr. W. Nicholson, and this was approved, provided the proposed trausferee is eligible and euttable. Mr. W. H. Road, lessee of Sections 8 and- !), Block I, Mangahao, 101) acres, applied to transfer the same to Mr. ,T. J. Page, and it was revived to approve if tho ranscr's report is satisfactory. ,Mr. C. M'Donncll applied to transfer Section Ki, Block 111, Kaitieke, 1083 acres, to Mv. K. C. Parkinson.—lt was decided thai. Iho board would approve when tho rerniirod improvements are effected. With reference to Mr. I'. O. Smith's application to subdivide Section IS, l/cvin ■Viill:>ge Settlement, 10 acres, ami trans-, for '2 iiorcs 2 rwids, 0 jiovchi-s to Mr.. W. J. Kirk, a retort was received from the
Crown Lands Ranger, and it was decided to recommend-on the usual conditions. It was re.-olved to withdraw the board's consent to the transfer by W. Holdcn to If. Timelier, dated October III), 1008, as the proposed dealing has not been completed within the prc'cribcd time. Mr. J. O'Donnell, lessee of Section 42, Block X, Hunua North, Waimariuo 1.1'., applied to be allowed to sublet a few acres for a slaughterhouse.—The application was postponed, pendine; inquiry by the Commissioner, who will inspect the Mr. D. Herlihy applied to be allowed to lease a portion of the old river-bed adjoinin" part of the Aornngi Estate, and it was resolved that whilst the board would probably take no action to his stock tn-nzine, on the area, it was contrary to pro'cpdenl: to lease it, as doing so might cause tho board to become involved in litigation. Under these circumstances tho board did not feel justified in entertainins the application. , It wa* resolved, subject to the ranger s report boins favourable, to accept a surrender of Mr. Samuel Daveysleaso of part cf Section 15S0, Block iX, Kairanga (fiS acres), and to i.'suc a fresh lease lor the remainder of the present term at a rental to be fixed by the Commissioner, with perpetual rights of renewal and such rights or resumption as may be decided upon by the Commissioner. The Union S.S. Company« permit to occupy Lot 7 of Section 216, Wellington, was extended fnr a period of nine months from March 10, 1911, at the same rent as hitherto paid—.£322 Is. Bd. per annum. It was resolved to approve of Section .132, Block V, Nukumaru, 235 acres, being offered under Part 111 of the Land Act, 1908, at a capital value of ,£llBO. It was resolved to recommend that Mr. M. Murphy, the owner of Section V, Blocks 111. IV, VII, Moumahaki (3D87 acres), be granted Section 5, Block 111, Moumahaki, area 40 acres, under Section 131 of the Laud Act, 1908, at the price of It was resolved to approve of Sections 27 and 32, Livingstone township, being offered for cash by public auction each at the upset price of .£2O. It was decided to approve of Section 4, Block XII, Pon;;aroa, area 2 roods 00 perches, being offered for cash by public auction at an upset price of ,£l4. The board decided to rescind tho resolution passed on February 2, and to recommend that Section 98, 810c 1 ; VI, Wairarapa, area 83 acres, be subdivided into two equal portions and allotted to tne adjoining owners, Messrs. Tanner and Tecker, under Section 129 o£ the Land Act, 1903, at the price of 20s. per acre. Applicants to -pay cost of subdivision. It was resolved to approve of a sale- to Mr. Win. Miller, of about ICOO confiscated posts on Whakapapa Island for the sum of £W, irrespective of the number that may actually bo found cut and lying on the ground. It was resolved to approve of Mr. A. H. Richardson being granted a permit to occupy from year to year Section IG6, Block XVI, Nukumaru, area 7 acres i rood, at a rent of 15s. p°r annum, subject to the usual conditions. Tenders are to be invited for a lease from year to year of western portion of Section 7, Block IX, Mangamii, area about 8 acres, at an upset rent of 10s. p-er annum. The ranger reported that Mr. H. Hall, lessee of Section 47, Lot 2. Levin V.S., 2 acres 1 rood, had erected an outhouse, and is sleeping there at nights, his family residing in Levin. It was resolved to accept as satisfactory in the meantime Mr. T. M'Coll, lessee ■of Section », Block VIII, Ectaruko, 1320 acres, applied for permission to reside on the adjoining section occupied by his brother, as there is no builling site on his own section. It was resolved to obtain a report from tho ranger. ' . The ranger reported that Mr. W. T. Fitzpatriek, lessee of Section 8, Block VII, Kaitieke, ■ 3i2 acres, was still i«siding on his- father's section adjoining, and it was resolved to accept as satisfactory for,tho present. A report was received from the C.L.E. to the ntfect that Mr. H. G. Hunter, lessee of Sections 5 to 8 inclusive, Block XI, Aohanga, 1175 acres, was residing intermittently,, and,thnt his family resides in Danncvirke,- and it was resolved to accept the report as satisfactory in the meantime. j A report was received from the C.L.F.. on a number of sections in Ohakunc V.S on which no improvements had beeneffecterlr as the timber is being milled; no residence is duo until December, 1912. It was resolved to take no action in the meantime. -, . ■■.. It'-.was. resolved to declare Mr, \. Jackson's interest in Sections 16, 17, 28, 29, and 30, Marshall V.S., 4 acres 3 roods 11 perches,, forfeited for noncompliance with the conditions of the leases. ..' ' A declaration of loss, of license by .Tames M'Rnighf, lessee "of Section 4, Block V, Maungakaretu, was received, and the necessary procedure having been carried out, it was resolved to issue a new lease in lieu of the lost lease, and on the same terms. '
As it is now reported that the bush on Section 15, Block V, Hautapu, has been so destroyed by fire as to rentier it of no value for scenic parpens, it was resolved to amend a resolution of July, 1910, and to offer the whole of the section under Part 111 of the Land Act, 1908, at tho price of £3 10s. per acre. With reference to the applications of Messrs. M'Govern and Lett, the holders of Sections 5 and 4, adjoining Section ft, Block IV, Ecwa Langdale Settlement, 49 acres, for permission to deepen the drain through the section which is held bv Mr. W. A. Oliver, it was resolved thai Messrs. M'Govorn and Lett be granted authority to deepen the drains as requested, provided that they bear all tho expenses of so doing.
Mrs. M. O'Neill applied for the issue of her freehold title, Section 1, Block IV, Whiriuaki, 063 acres 3 roods 0 perches, and it was approved.
Mr. G. Harris applied to transfer his lease of Sections 2 and 3, Block X, Eangataua Town', 2 acres, to D. Gould. The Commissioner reported that as there- had not been two years' residence the leafo was not transferable except under special nnd unforeseen circumstances, and it was resolved to postpone consideration until next meeting. Mrs. M. Watson applied to transfer her lease of Section 2, Block VI, Owhango Township, 2 acres 4 perches, to A. C. White. As the required improvements had not been effected, and the two years' residence had not taken place on 'tho sectioii, it was resolved to hold tho matter over until next meeting. Mrs. M. Sparks wrote with reference to her on Sections 6 and 7, Block X, Rangataua V.S., .2 acres, and asked that she be granted exemption from residence for four years from (he date' of selection, as she states tho land is swamp land. It. was resolved to send a copy of tho application to tho ranger for a report.
