— *- —■ '. , ' • ''FIRST ORDINARY, MEETING. 'The first ordinary meeting of the newly-elected Harbour Board was held last evening, .Mr. R. Fletcher (chairman) presiding.- Also present'.were:.Messrs.'A. M'Farlane, J. G. Cobb, P. C. Freeth, J. W. M'Ewah, R. C. Renner, C. F. Danicll, M. Cohen;' C. W. Jones, and A. H. Hindmarsh. Leave of absence was granted Messrs. J. G. Harkness,' J. E. Fitzgerald, J. Trevor, and H. C. Tewsley. The bank '.pass-books .showed:--Current account, credit balance, .£30,071 ss. lOd.; imprest account; credit balance, ',£BIO 19s. Id.-; on fixed deposit, ,£70,000. .' . Payments were authorised as'follow:— For accounts and ivages, ,£17,005 Is. 7d.; for progress payments on contracts, .£7829 os. 2d.; for salaries' for May, ,£909 13s. 10d.; total, .£25,743 15s. 7d. The chairman reported that contract No -152 for extension- of the sea-wall, Waterloo Quay, arid'contract'No. io9 for asphalting the floors of the "J" wool i store had been completed. ', The Wharves and Accounts Commit- . tee recommended to the board: That tenders be-called, closing at 5 p.m. on June 28, for the supply-of uniforms and uniform caps. , '. - ; That' a lease be offered to the Welling- : ton Gas'.Company, Limited,, for a piece of land near Miramar Wharf, as the lc- | cation for 'a: pumping .house . and that leave-be given, to. carry a suction pipe , into the sea under' the wharf at an . annual rent of ,£lO 105.,-- subject to three i months' on' either,side. '

That the.seal of the board be,affixed to a foreshore license'from the board to the City Corporation for a semi-circular wall at Oriental Bay. That, subject,, to the approval of the Governor-in-Council, foreshore licenses be granted to. H.. Croucher and A. H. Mitchell for boat sheds at Evans Bay. The report was.adopted.....
