Tho u-oublc was occasioned by. tho company refusing to reinstato tho president of the union. Tho president gavo provisional notice to leave, and. then wished to retract. In the meantime, however, tho company had filled the position. Forty men went out on strike, and the works aro closed. There is about three days' supply of gas stored. GERMAN' COTTON TRADE LOCKOUT. Berlin, May 22. A lock-out of 10,000 trade unionists in the textile industry has begun at Mucnstor in Westphalia, CAMBRIAN MINE DISPUTE. ; London,' May 22. A fresh deadlock has occurred with', respect to' tho Cambrian mine dispute. (Roc, May 23 ! , 10 p.m.) '! ' .London, May 23. A minority of the Council of the South Walcj Miners' Federation has declined to. recommend the Cambrian, strikers to accept tho agreement with the employers drawn up on May 16. Delegates from all parts of tho coalfield will meet to consider tho agreement on Saturday. If it is rejected contrary b tho advico of the Miners' Federation of Great Britain, the latter may withhold its weekly contribution of ,£3OOO to the striko funds.

Jveir Mardio, Leader vi tho Labour party in tho liritisU House of Commons, xho couiwuiiication is dated April 13:— "Dear sir,—As you are doubtless aware. 12.0UU miners havo been on strike in tho' Khondda Valley, South Wales, since September last. Tho dispute arose originally over tho cutting pneo to bo, paid tor n new scam which is being opened up. The men were prepared then to have tho point settled by an outside arbitrator, and the oiler is still open. But tho employers, knowing doubtless tho weakness ol their case, refuse this, and so the dispute goes on; ami so far as can, bo seen at present is likely to continue lor somo considerable time. As you can. we'll believe there is a good deal cf sufiering. Nearly all the underground men are in tho union, and are receiving striko pay, but this only provides very mougro fare, and there are a good many hundreds ot various kinds of small officials and others who arc not even in receipt of this. Relief funds have been opened no as lo ensure that tho women and children cf Ihe non-union men, as well as tho union men, shall not go hungry, and the commit 100 hayb authorised mo to make an appeal to the miners of New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa on their behalf. This 1 now make, and trust tho response may be prompt as the need is great.
