At a special meeting of the DuDedin Presbytery to-day there was a lengthy discussion on the question of Hie military training of cadets, and the Presbytery's relation thereto, and on the subject of nominating • military chaplains. Some of the speakers were in favour of the churches assisting in the movement, but others showed uncompromising hostility, and eventually a motion was carried by 18 votes to 6 protesting against the formation of denominational companies o£ cadets, and expressing the opinion that tho Churches as such should take no part in tho formation of cadet companies, an amendment in favour of commending the request of tho Government to sessions being rejected. [The formation of a senior cadet company in South Wellington is now to all intents, and purposes an accomplished fact. At a meeting-hold last evening in the Yonnpc Men's Bible Class Eoom, St. James's Church, about .10 lads attended, and the roll now contains a total pf 50 names.
