■' O ~ Colonel E. W. C. Chaytor, Officer Commanding the Wellington District, is at present in Palmerston on an oihcial visit. It is anticipated that district headquarters will bo removed to Palmerston North at tho end of this week—certainly by tho end of tho month.
Mr. George Innc6, mansger of the Bank of New Zealand at Wanganui, is shortly poing to Auckland as assistant manager of the branch in that city—not manager, as stated yesterday. Wo arc informed from the headquarters of tho bank that tho business at Auckland has grown to such an extent as to_ necessitate the ap-, pointmcnt of an assistant manager, out the present manager, Mr. Buckleton, will remain in charge.

Councillor S. V. Burridge, of tho Petone Borough Council, has been electcd to suecpod ox-Councillor Southgate on the Hutt Park Committee.
The death occurred on. Sunday at Perth (W.A.) of Mr. James Frankis Lane, formerly of Wellington, and brother of Mr. Charles F. Lane, of this city. Mr. Lane, who was 42 years of age, was_ resident secretary for tho Citizens' _ Life Assurance Company. Ltd., for New Zealand, up to the time of its amalgamation in 11)07 with tho Mutual Assuranco Company, when ho was appointed to the management of the company in Western Australia. i\lr. Lane, who resided in liotnnical Road for como years, was highly respected in this city for his sterling business and social qualities. He was ;i iiineliesteemed member of tho Kelburne Bowling Club, and 011 his departure both ho and Mrs. Lane were the recipients of many presentations. He leaves a widow and family. Much symyathy will be felt for Mrs. Lane by her friends in Wellington.
The death occurred at Gre.vmouth last evening of Mr. Lilly Joseph Williams, fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hanwell Williams, both of whom died within the last fortnight. Mr. Williams, for some time, was West Coast traveller for Messrs. Kempthorne, Prosser and Co., and gave up that position to take over his father's chemist business in Greymouth. Along with his brother he has been more or less an invalid for the last two years. He leaves a wife, but no children.—Prijss Association.
