TOUE IN THE SOUTH. (By TelcEraph.-rress Association.) Cliristchurch, May 28. The Hon. D. Buddo, Minister for Inter* nal Affairs, arrived from (ho south by the first e.tprws this evening. The object of his visit to Southland, Mr. Buddo stated to a reporter, was to we the old sawmill areas with a view to their settlement. A considerable area had bjen. finite worked out, and settlement could proceed almost immediately Other areas of considtrable extent could be settled within twelve months. The land was w-own land, and parts of it had already been surveyed, -Mr. Buddo left for liangiora by the. evening train. He proceeds'to Oxford on Monday, where ho will receive reveral deputations and lie will then probably have something to say about land settlement. On Tuesday ho returns to Wellington.
