KIWITEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
(By Telegraph.—Siiecial Correspondent,) Feilding, May 20. The monthly meeting of the Kiwitea County Council was held to-day, there being present Councillor F. F. Hockly (in the chair), ond Councillors Fowler, Bruce, Grice, Shaw, Morton, M'Neil, and E. Short. The treasurer's report showed the following receipts: Dog tax, rents, etc., ,£25 13s. 6d.; Oroua County Council, .£37 3s. 411.; total, .£52 16s. 10d. Amounts to bo paid out, County Fund account, .£1569 10s. 5d.; loan account, JS7I 45.; Land Fund account, No. 2, .£ls Us. lid. Tho County Fund has a debit balance of JEI2OD 12s. lid. Mr; J. K. M'Lennan wrote informing; the council that he would not be able to act as its representative on the Assessment Court. Tho following alteration was made in the rate roll: J. Monteith to W. J. Letford, Section No. 1, township of Pakihikura. The county engineer (Mr. F. B. S. Waite) in his report stated that during tho month he had inspected nearly all the contracts that were completed, and were being carried out. The work on the whole was satisfactory, but tho present break in the weather would interfere with the completion of some of the work. The Palmerston North Hospital Board wrote that the levy of 4s. 9d. in the ■£1000 capital value had been made for tho current year, and that the Kiwitea Council's share had been assessed at .£3BO ss. 9d. for hospital and charitable aid, and ,£33 7s. 2d. for tho purchase of a site for an old people's home. The Department of Lands and Survey wrolo that authority had been given to expend the sum of ,£25 in fencing Section 74, township of Livingstons, and enclosing specifications for tho work, and requesting that the same be put in hand at an early date.
