Tho Holy Father, on March 27 (says the "Catholic Times") received in audience Count do Collevillo and a number of French gentlemen who recently,formed themselves into a. committee.'with a view to present St. Peter's with monumental organs worthy of tho great church. Learning of the vast amount of money that is necessary for tho work of renovating the pavement of tho church, tho committee tendered his Holiness the sum of 10,000 francs on tiie. occasion to further a project tho Pope has so much at heart. Pius X warmly thanked the generous Frenchmen for aiding an enterprise which tho dignity of the Cathedral of Christendom lias rendered necessary. Tho Holy Father on the same day received in private audience tho Countess Maria Theresa Lcdochowski, Directress of the Society of St. Peter Clavcr, niece of tho great Pole, the late Cardinal Lcdochowski, who suffered so much for the Faith.
