SPORTS-DETAILS ARRANGED. A meeting of the Coronation Sports Committee was held yesterday evening, Mr. A. Marryatt presiding. The Tennis Snb-Commitlee presented a report on the proposed tennis matches. It was stated that tnc lNcw Zealand Tennis Association would not authorise a tourney unless balls were provided. Messrs. Alcock and Company had, however, offered to provide the. balls free of charge. They had also offered to supply the entry forms, and a trophy value £-1 if. The programme includes a men's championship singles, ladies' championship tingles, men's handicap doubles, and ladies'handicap doubles, Air. George Goldie will be referee, and Messrs. H. Keeping, G. Goldie, and SI. Keen, haudicappers. The report was adopted. The tournevs, which will bo played on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and in the evenings, will commence on June 3. Various tentative dates were allocated in order to enable the tourney to be carried on. The Bowling Committee stated that it was simply waiting to test the floor. The matter of the iirst tourney was left to the sub-committee. Mr. Lawfon, representing the BoyScouts, thought that it would bo best for the scouts to combine with tho inilitarv display. He thought, however, that they might be able to give an exhibition of hut-building, bridge-building, and first aid. It was decided, to leave the matter over, pending a report from the Military Committeo and the Schools Committee. 'ijj.ii. The Athletic Committee reported that it might be possible to arrange for a wrestling match. Officials for the opening carnival will be: Judges, Messrs. A. Mnrryatt and E. Chaffey; handicappers and 'walking judge. Mr. .Tames Gow; megaphonist, Mr. W. H .Tones; timekecners, Mr. J. H. Pollock: starter Mr. W.'H. Pollock; tug-of-war judge, Mr. J. Doyle. . , ~.,•„„ A further report was received stating that arrangements were being mado for military displays by the City, palandia and College Kiflas. A 'h.g-of-wnr for volunteers, and an attack on a Maori pa would also be arranged. It was decided to endeavour to arratmc for a naval display by men from the warships' Cambrian and Pioneer on Coronation night.
