; . A CLERICAL MISTAKE. A rather unusual matter came beforo the City, Council last evening. Messrs. Richmlsoh, Blair, and M'Cabe, whose tender i'6r the supply of car accessories hnd been accepted by the council, applied for ail additional ..£2O because of a clerical mistake of thrit amount that had been roado in their schedules. Councillor Hindmarsh, when.a recommendation came before the council Inst evening that the contract be adhered to, sp'oko in favour of granting tho recjuest, and allowing the matter to be rectified. Iri support of this he quoted a case in which the council had previously allowed a tender for copper wire to bo amended owing to.a risn occurring in the prico of copper wire. Hβ moved tha.t tho matter hi referred back to the committee. ■ Coancilior M'Laren seconded tlia motion., , .'.'llio Mayor supported the motion. Ho eaid the mistake was in tho addition of the-Items, and not in the price of any itfin. ; Councillor Shirtcliffo opposed the mottoTi. He called for correspondence on tho Blibject, and contended that it showed that the Town Clerk had already informed Messrs, llichnrdson, Blair, and M'Cabe. that the allowance could Bert be made becaifec flic tender with the addition of the wonld l>o higher than the next lowUnder these conditions ho opposed tho motion.
