POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Pohingina County Council yas licld on Saturday. Present: Messrs. Brown (chairman), Eglington, Burne, Wagstaff, Smith, and Howie. The clerk was instructed to make, further inquiries in regard to the offer of Mr. .1. J. Lynch of laud for a road. . A communication was received from the Pnlmerston Hospital Board intimating that the levy for the current year would bo J1195 ISs. ii. and XI" 3s. SJd. for the Old People's Home. Tho chairman was appointed to represent the council on the Assessment Court. ' The council decided it could not supSort the proposal to make the Palmcrston [ospital entirely free. The treasurer s report showed thnt tho overdraft stood at JJIG'J 15s. id. on the general account, (hn loans account being in credit to Ihe amount of £iS 3s. Gd.' The riding balances were:—Awahau, debit JE34 9s. 3d.; Coal Creek, credit JC97 19s. lid. i Mangnonc, debit .£76 10s.; Manga- : pikopiko, credit .E3IG 17s. 10d.; Polmnsiiin, credit .£ll9 17s. Gd.; Tama-ki, debit .£229 Is. Bd.j Umutoi, debit ,£391 Hβ. 3d, Tho estimates Rave receipts as .CG324, and expenditure .E5955. The report of Ihe engineer (Mr. D. Sinclair) was read and adopted. The enRineor was instructed to call for applications for leases of unused roads, and roport to next meeting. It was decided to call for applications for the position of ranger for tho county at a salary of X 3 10s. pnr week, and lo leave over, till next meeting, the appointment of a ranger and pound-kccpoi for Pohangina township.
