Melbourne, May 17. Tenders have been received by the Defence Department for eighteen hundred sets of military harness, the averago prices quoted being M ii set higher' than was paid last year, and £5 over the prices in the English lender.?. Tho Acting-Minister for Defenco says he desires to assist local industries, but would not l>B doing his duty if he allowed the manufacturers to insist on such au advance.
