Wedding at St. Paul's. The Rev. T. H: Sprott, ( oi Wellington, officiated yesterday at the wedding of Miss Enid Elgar, daughter oi Mr; and Mrs. Charles Elgar, of "Fernside," Fcatherston, with Captain G. C Hamilton, Grenadier Guards, and only soi' of Lord Claude Hamilton, and.nephew oi the Duke of Abdrcorn.'' The ceremony took place in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral which was decorated for the occasion with Ik -ors and evergreens. Mr. Robert Par ker presided at the organ. .The bride who was given away by her father, won (i gown of rich ivory satin, the siighth high-waisted bodice being draped witi: silk net and honiton lace. The transpav : ent, collar!ess yoke was edged with pear ami stiver beading, and ovei the skirt i'el a tunic of silk net wifh a border of honi ton lace, embroidered with pearl and si! rcr beads. A court h-ain of satin .fel trom the shoulders, and a.long tulle vei and v. voath of orange blossoms, togethci with a sheath cf St.-Joseph lilies, com pleted a very graceful toilette. Mrs. Elgar, the bride .mother, wore a frock of vimi.-\ ross sain veiled with biscuil-coloured'niflflii;-' am trimmed witli guipure to match. He: hat was of vieux.rose satin, covered wi! biscuit-coloured ninon, -and trimmed wit! shaded plumes, the brin. being lined wit black velvet. She carried a boautifn bouquet of Enchantress carnations, nm brown autumn foliage.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence in Hobson Street, the various rooms having been charmingly arranged with flowers. Tea and coffee Were served in the dining room, the table being a feast of vivid colouring with its arrangements of dark red and pink carnations. Japanese maple leaves, and maiden-hair fern being intermingled with- them. The large wedding cako was apparently mounted upon a bank of white flowers erected in tho hall and here, standing underneath a mass of lovely flowers, the bride cut the cake with her husband's sword.
His Excellency Lord Islington was unable to be present, but was represented by Colonel Ileard, Director of Staff Duties. Other guests present, many of whom had 'come a considerable distance, were:—Mrs. Godley, wearing a navy blue silk dress with Oriental embroideries and a large navy blue satin hat trimmed with shaded rose?; Mrs. Lan Duncan, white cloth costume and large black velvet hat with whito ostrich plumes; Mrs. Cecil Kebbell, white cloth braided costume and white tagel straw hat with plumes; Mrs. W. Tharazyn, black • satin costume with pale blue rovers and large black satin hut lined with pale, blue and trimmed with white ostrich plumes; Miss Wardcll, handsome whito cloth dress trimmed with wide bands of insertion and black velvet, hat, with white, plumes; Miss Flora Brandon, vicux rose ninon over satin and hat to match; Miss Lucy Brandon, blue costumo with pale blue hat; Miss Pearce, grey coat and skirt, grey hat with black and white plumes; Mrs. Norman Beetham, grey braided coat anil skirt and mauve hat; Mrs. G. Fitzgerald, mauve dress and hat trimmed with wings of the samo shade; Mrs. Tweed, palo blue costume and' black hat with blue osprey plumes; Mrs. Dalziel, grey coat and skirt, furs, and a grey hat with whito wings; Mrs. Chaytor, biscuit-coloured dress with cream lace yoke, white hat edged with cerise and black flowers; Mrs. Joseph, . winecoloured velvet dress and largo black lint with plumes; Miss Joseph, black velvet with black lace yoke and sleeves and violet lint; Miss Coafes, violet costume, furs, and a black hat; Miss Tripp, cream embroidered voilo dress and black hat with white plumes; Miss Tolhurstj cream silk frock and black hat with cream lace. The bride's going-away costume was of heliotrope serge, .braided, and a largo heliotrope tngel s'trnw hat with a ruche of shaded wings. On Thursday Captain and Jlrs. Hamilton leave for England. Previous to his marriage Captain Hamilton was presented with a silver tobacco jar by the officers and non-commissioned officers of the Taubcrinikau camp.
Wedding at St. Mark's,
A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St Mark's Church yesterday afternoon when Miss Bessie Florenco Webb, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Webb, Wellington, was married to Mr. E. Y. Redward, assistant law officer and editor of '•Redward's Guide." The Rev. A. M. Johnson, M.A., performed the ceremony, and Mr. Lawrence Watkins presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very handsome gown of ivory charmcuse, with lace yoke and tucked sleeves edged with silver fringe. A tulle veil was worn over a wreath of orange blossoms, . and she carried a shower bouquet of white narcissi and maiden-hair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss May Webb, and Miss Ida Redward as bridesmaids, both wearing very pretty frocks of pale blue crepe-de-chine, with tucked yc-Kes, edged with pale blue embroideries, and black velvet hats trimmed with twists of silver braid. Their bouquets were of pale blue hydrangeas and autumn leaves, and they wore gold, bangles—gifts from the bridegroom. The bride's present was a diamond, pearl, and ruby brooch. Mr. Bray was best man, and Mr. Spillsbury groomsman.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mrs. Webb receiving in a black silk dress and toque, trimmed with pink roses. Her bouquet was of pink roses and maiden-hair fern. Hiss Alice Webb was in a cream costume and saxo blue hat. Mrs. Redward, mother of fho bridegroom, wore a dress of black brocade, a lace scarf, and toque with plumes. She carried a shower bouquet of scarlet flowers. Miss A. "cdward was in green charmeuse, and green hat to match; Mrs. Dickson, grey costume and pretty hat; Miss E. Bannister, cream costume and brown hat; Mrs. Gibson, brown frock and beaver hat;. Mrs. Legge, black taf-' fetas silk dress and black hat; Mrs. C. Redward, navy blue- costume, lavender hat, and white furs; Mrs. C. H. Mills, black. coat and skirt, and black velvet hat; Mrs. Glasgow, electric blue coat and skirt and beaver hat.' The bride's travelling costume, was a navy blue serge coat .■!->•! skirt and hat to match. Among the :..;.«ents received from their many friends was an' oak tray and sot of afternoon china from "the Newtown Tenuis Club; also a present • from St. Mark's Girls' Club.Wairarapa Weddings. Two Wairarapa weddings took place vesterdav (says our Masterton correspondent!. Miss Violet Dagg, daughter of Mr .1. G. Dagg. of Kaituno, was married to Mr. Robert 'IV.-iforth. Miss Kathleen ['Ivans, eldest daughter of Mr. H. Evans, of Upper Plain, was married to Mr. iiirch, 'late of Grcytowu. A "Linen Tea." Yesterrtav afternoon a "linen tea" was ';iven by Miss l.iikc for her cousin, Miss ■Bess ; e Luke, who is leaving on Thursday for Enir'nnd. A large number of friends were present, niv.l a very pleasant time was spent with music, recitations, and an ingenious competition, in .which MisK Brittain and Mi;-s Fosette were the fortunate prize-winners. The drawing-room had been prettily arranged with nasturtiums, and, in the dining-room, where' tea was served, the table was bright with pink and white cosmcas.- Mrs. "Luke- was in a dress of black uinon, and Miss Lulte wore a white embroidered muslin frock Miss Bessie Luke was in a pale blue silk frock. ' " Miss Ava Symons, of Hastings, who will join the' Sheffield Choir for their tour throughout t! i Domir"n, is at present staying with her nunt, Mrs. Wm. Toogoort (Feathcrston). Miss Symonds purposes going home to completo her , musical studies in July next. ~.,--.j.j Mr. Arthur Taylor (Otira) who is on a visit to Wellington, is to be married shortly to Miss Madge A. Chiney, of Manchester, England. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wallace, of Halswell Street, intend leaving on June 7 for England, via Vancouver and Canada. Miss Christie, who has been staying with them, will.bo the guest of Mrs. Cleghoru. The Star Boating Club ball, always an event which is locked forward .to with a considerable amount of pleasure, has been arranged to take place on Juno 20, in the Sydney Street Hall. A r r. and Mrs. E. Crisp, of Gisborne, are staving at the Occidental IJotui, and leave by the Tainui on Thursday for England.
