FEILDING A. & P. SOCIETY.

, NINTH ANNUAL REPORT. - The following is a summary of the ninth annual report of the FeUding Industrial Agricultural and Pastoral Association:— Tour committee has again to report a considerable profit on " the year's transactions. The association has a credit balance of MO2 lGs. 10d., and the assets now stand at Jli-191 2s. lOd. above liabilities. A total.of ,£932 15s. Id. has been spent- on permanent improvements and plant; of which amount'..£3s3 ISs. lOd. has been written.off for depreciation. The annual show, which was held on February 7 and 8,, fully demonstrated its value as nn all round exhibition of utility stock and produce. The entries again constituted a record, and when it is borne in mind that several kindred associations held their shows on or near the same date, it is pleasing to note that the entries were in advance of those of last year. The exceptionally favourable Reason for the early .production of fat lambs, and the finishing off of fat stock, was no doubt partly responsible for tho largo entries in these classes and tho high uniform standard of the exhibits. On the first day tho association was favoured by the presence of tho Hon. T. Mackenzie (Minister.for Agriculture), and Messrs. Dunlop and Koith (members of tho Scotch Commission), who were touring the Dominion at that time. Tho commissioners, who had had many oprior--tunities of inspecting similar fixtures in other lands,. spoke very, favourably of the stock from this district, especially sheep. The domestic.and produce sections again brought forward fair entries. The membership showed a.slight increase, but tho committee wish to seo tho present number greatly increased in the . near future. ...

liecognising the necessity for making provision, for. increased accommodation tor show stock, and with a view ti enlarging tho present pens, the association has 'purchased nino acres of land adjoining the, grouud, which will provide the necessary, facilities, and was availablb for night paddocks at the last, show, being ranch appreciated by the exhibitors. Tho association is deeply indebted to the gentlemen .who officiated as judges at the Khow, the greater majority of whom did not charge for. their services. Very hearty thanks are also. extended to the junior steward?, who as usual, did their work well and expeditiously. Tho committee deeply deplores the loss the association has sustained by the decrease of the late Mr. G. C. Wheeler, a valued member of tho committee, and greatly appreciates the good work dono by him whilst a member. In accordance with tho rules, tho following members retire by rotation: Messrs. F. J. Boddy, H. J. Booth, F. F. Haggitt, I).' Jl'Elroy, S. Strachan and J. Wilson; the late Air. Wheeler's death also leaves a vacancy; another vacancyhas been created by tho election of Mi. ■J. Knight as a vice-president.
