The Hon. James Carroll (Acting-Prime Minister) will be in, Dannerirkp. to-day, the Hon. 6. Fowlds is in Auckland, the Hon. J. A. Millar at Picton . and Blenheim, the Hon. T. Mackenzie at Leviu, the. Hou. It. M'Keuzio in Wellington, the Hon. D. Buddo in Canterbury, and the Hon. A. T. Ngata in Wellington.
Mr. W. P. Massey, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, returned to Auckland on' Saturday morning. He will remain in that city until about May 23, when ho will leave for the south and deliver a series of speeches, visiting in turn Waimate, Oamaru, Eiverton, Invcrcargill, Ashburton and Akaroa. When in Otago ho will reply to the speech given by the Hon. J. A. Millar at Dunedin. Later he will address public meetings in Wellington and in Auckland.
The Hon. D. Buddp passed through Invercarsill yesterday, arriving by the first express, and going on to Orepuki, whero he has promised to look into several matters affecting the welfare of the district.—Press Association.
The Hon. A. T. Ngata, who has been spending the summer months at his property at Poverty Bay, has re-occupied his offices in the Parliamentary Buildings.
Mr. James Mackenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lands, is at present indisposed and confined to his bed.
Mr. C. J. lieakes, director of the Veterinary Department, proceeded to Auckland yesterday on departmental business.
Mr. J. C. Cooper, who was the Reform party's candidato for Pahiatna seat at. last election, has definitely decided that, owing to the demands of business, ho will be unable to contest any seat, this election.—Press Association.
General Sir Charles Burnett, K.C.8., K.C.V.Om accompanied by Lady Burnett, arrived at .Auckland from Sydney by the Victoria on Sunday, and is proceeding to Dunedin in the same vessel on a visit to his brother, The General will afterwards make a tour northwards from Dunedin.
Mr. L. E. Phillipps, the present member of Parliament for Waitemata, will again contest the scat at the next general election. Speaking at Puhoi on Friday evening, he definitely contradicted tho statement that ho intended to seek election in tho Kaipara electoral district.
Mr. J". C. Lane has resigned Hie position of secretary of the Manawatu A. and P. Association,, and, at a meeting of the General Committee yesterday, the resitnation was accepted, reference being rondo to Mr. Lane's services during his lengthy term of office.—Press Association.
Captain D. C. Sprncer-Smith, staff officer to tho General Officer Commanding the. New Zealand Forces, will leave shortly for England on urgent private business.
