WELLINGTON LETTERCARRIERS.
Mr. Basil Stokes, of the Wellington letter-carriers' staff, who has obtained six months' leave of absence and who intends to set out shortly on a visit to England and South Africa, was entertained last evening by the local carriers' staff. Mr. K. J. Hnlbcrt occupied the chair. Mr. C. D. M'Kwau proposed "Their Guest" and in doing so referred to the upright manner in which .Mr. Stokes had always acted towards members of the staff. The Postal Department, ho said, would probably be repaid for the concession which it had granted to Mr. Stokes as he would return with new ideas. Messrs. Hulbert', Konlston, Chandler, Moxhani, and Lawless also spoke. Mr. Stokes, in reply, ste.ted that he deeply appreciated the "sppochos that had been made and would look forward to returning to the associations which lie had made among the Wellington letter-carriers' staff.
