THE CORONATION.

ACTING-PREMIER AND MAYOR TO CONFER. AND ARRANGE DETAILS. The exact form of the Coronation Day celebrations in Wellington will probably not be determined until tho end of the week, when in all probability tho ActingPrime Minister and tho Mayor will confer in reference to the matter. .The Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.) received a letter from tho Hon. James Carroll yesterday, bearing on the matter. After setting out what was done at the last Coronation celebrations, and the proposals already published, tho letter proceeded:— "As it is intended to use Nowtown Park instead of the Basin Reserve on this occasion, tho distance will to to be considered, and it is suggested that the question of assembling at the Basin Reserve, ov thereabouts, might bo entertainable, the inarch from the Government Buildings being performed by the military and naval forces, the other bodies to join the procession at the Basin lieserve in their arranged order. the children will be expected to assemble at Newtown Park at 11.15. 'lho Governor is duo on the ground at noon, and tho Veterans will provide the guard of honour, and tho bands will mass. On the platform will also be his Worship the Mavor, city councillors, and Cabinet Ministers and their wives, judges and their wives, members of Parliament and their wives, also the Coronation Committee. A verse of tho National Anthem will be sung by tho children, under Mr. Robert Parker, then will follow 'The Old Hundredth' and tho Lord's Prayer. Addresses will be given by the Governor, the Mayor, and the Minister representing the Government. Tho troops will then maraii past, and bo inspected. Before dispersing, at about 1.30, the National Anthem will be sung by all present." The conference between tho ActingPrime Minister and the Mayor will be on Friday or Saturday.

THE GOVERNMENT ILLUMINATIONS The concrete yard at the rear of the Government Buildings is just at present completely covered with electric light apparatus—long lines of insulated cables, dotted with thousands of connections, to which bulhs will be attached. This apparatus is to he used for the Coronation illuminations 011 the Government Buildings. The Government' electricians are now employed working out suitable designs. Mr. Louch, chief electrician, is in charge. Strewn about are the designs which illuminated the public buildings on our first Dominion Day. Many of these wjll have to bo broken up because of their unsuitability for the coming event. Their parts, however, will be useful. But crowns, and stars, nnd anchors can all bo used again. "We have to get at it pretty early,"'said one of the electricians to a Dominion- reporter.- '"These' thousands of bulbs, the necessary connections, and the cables take a tremendous lot of. attention. One or two faulty ones would spoil a display. In a few days the work of erecting the designs will be commenced, and the Government buildings will be festooned with cables of bulbs."
