* IN NEW SOUTH WALES. MINISTER PROMISES AN INQUIRY, By Teleirraph—Press Association—CopyrieM Sydney, May 13. • A deputation from the Labour Council asked Mr. Holman, tho Acting-Pre-mier, to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire as to the increased cost of living. Tho deputation mentioned different alleged combines, and instanced, among other things, that wages in tho boot trade had increased by twopence a pair and the retail prico by from fifteenpence to two shillings a pair. Mr. Holman promised that he would make an almost immediate inquiry.
