RECOVERY OF ALLEGED BOOTY.
.The intruder, captured by Mr. George Brownlee, at 1G Moturoa Street, on Friday night, and subsequently arrested by Constables Smart and Canning, will have a number of charges preferred against him when he next appears before tho magistrate.
As previously mentioned, quite a number of alleged burglaries had been reported during the past couple- of mouths, and the property stolen (whether by the man arrested or by some one else) consisted of rings, watches, cigaretto cases, coins, pictures, clothing, boots, and other articles. On Saturday morning, Detectives Andrews, Lewis, and Cameron recovered a great quantity of tho. missing articles, the property both of private citizens and of tho Wellington City Council. The property hail been concealed on the reclaimed land beyond Waterloo Quay.
The dates of the alleged burglaries were as follow:—Technical School, March 12; Mr.' David Williamson, Grant Road, March IS; Mr. Phillip Nathan, Hili Street, and Mr. 'W. C. Gaseoigne, Hili Street, March 22; Dr. C. P. Knight, Bolton Street, April 15; Mr. Kichard Pilling, Adelaide I?oad, April 13: Mr. N. Jacobs, 'J'horndou Quay,, April 17; and Mr. Algar Williams, Hobson Street, May 3. Charges of Public Library thefts, extending owna period, are also to be preferred against accused.
