The first of a series of hunts for the season was held hero on Wednesday, when a, . dozen followers participated. Tho run, over the properties of Messrs. Wintcrburii and Xaknrcta, Etekia, Bright liros., Taylor, and Simcox was much enjoyed. Tho horses, on the whole, jumped well, while tho hounds were in fair condition. Mr. J. Sweeney was lmutsmsm and Mr. C. G. Rhiines deputy-master. ' The combined hockey clubs intend holding a "social" here on May '25, with a view to raiding money to improve their present playing ground.
The annual meeting: of tho Church of England .Men's Society was held on Wednesday night, when the vicar gave an interesting address. The following were elected ■ officers:—Committee,, Messrs. L. St. George, C. L. Hartmaun, Eli Allen, J. Pepper, and Simcox; treasurer, Mr. W. Cook; sec* rotary, Mr. Walter Best.
