CREYTOwN.

The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Luke's Church was held on Thursday evening, the Rev. A. T. B. Page, Vicar, presiding. Very favouiablo reports of tho past year's work were given by the secretary and treasurer. The Vicar gavo an address, and stated incidentally that he looked forward tb an even better state of things. Ho also stated that several things were contemplated, and would engage- tho attention of Iho incoming vestry. Amongst these were tho installation of gas, repainting of the church and vicarage, and a now organ. He made, appreciative reference to tho services of the lay readers, vestry, choir, and tho wardens and the Ladies' . Guild, and also referred to tho C.E.M.S. Conference at Cliristchurch. Ho further welcomed Miss Cattell-AVcbb and Mr. Perry as additional church workers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Mr. W. A. Tate, vicar's warden; Mr. H. Dudding, people's warden, secretary and treasurer, and diocesan, synodsman; Messrs. AV. C. Davies, Mark Maxton, AV. Gates, G. F. Allan, and \Y. 11. Day, vestrymen; Mr. H. Wnlden,.auditor.*..,A resolution,.was cairied advocating the claim of lady church, members to havo a. vote, and to sit on the vestry, etc. The Sunday School prizes were distributed by tiio Vicar during the evening. After the busineFS had been completed, songs, recitations, and instrumental items were contributed by members. A resolution to further tho cause of temperance wan carried unanimously, on tho motion of Mr. S. J; Allan, seconded by Mr. AV. A. Tate. The proceedings were closed by the singing of the National Anthem.

Mr. H. Warner, of Carterton, has been selected as the new custodian of tho Workingrncn's Club here. There, wore nearly one'hundred applicants.

Tho local Operatic Society have just added a 30-guinea organ to their property. This, of course, will be or' great service in the production of "§hor« wood's Queen," now 'under rehearsal.
