Palmcrston, May 1~. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston Hospital Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs. J- G. AYilsnu (chairman , , Xash, Bryant, Mowlem, Poarce, Brucs, Fowler, Kendall, Howie. Spiers, Voss Vincent. Hewitt, and Harfonl. In reference to the question of building a residonco for the doctor, it was decided that the whole hoard should inspect sites near the hospital prior to nest meeting. Tho liawcra Hospital Board wrote intiniatiiK that it would held the board responsible for the fees of any Palmerstoii patients Mr. Pearco asked that the by-laws shou- i bo altered so that cases of accident could be taken at the hospital without waitinc; for a doctor's certificate. Ho instanced i case whore a voting man had lain unconscious for half an hour, and then h.ri had to be taken to a.private hospital because a certificate could nor bo obtained within a reasonable time. The secretary pointed out, that cafes of accident could now be admitted without a certificate, iind also that (on (ho dale mentioned by Mr. Pearce} no application had been marie for tho admission of an accident. M,\ Peurce said that he would make further inquiries from the parties who had reported the matter to him. It was resolved to a«k Hi? Government to supply ral poison to residents free. The reports of the secretary and of the Charitable Aid inspector were rend and adopted. Tho latter' instanced two cases— one where, a man who had been married three times (the third wife being divorced) had applied for assistance, and, in the second, where a woman who?e husband had deserted her four times, had also applied for help. The secretary reported that the borough councils of Palmerston and Feilding were against tho proposal of Mr. Pearce'tliat the liosnib.l should be made entirely free. Mr. AY. Kutherfurd wrote accepting the position of honorary treasurer, and a seat on the executive.

Holmes (of the Wellington V.M.C.A.), gave further information. ' My. Holme? also stated Hint Dr. Coombe (North African missionary) was coming to the Dominion in October.

Increased activity had been shown in both tho'ordinary and ladies' lodges. The invitation to hold the 191" Grand Session at Palmerston North was accepted. A letter was received from the district lodgo notifying that tho next Grand Lodge Session would bo held in Palmerston. and asking tho co-operation of the various lodges in arranging for tho entertainment of the delegates, who would probably number 120.
