(By Tdcsraph.—Special Correspondent.! Chrjstchurch, May 11.
In the Lower High Street Methodist Church 'last night Ah'. C. H. I'oole, M.l'., continued his series of addresses in connection with the National Prohibition Campaign, Mr. C. E. Salter presiding. There was only a moderate attendance.
Before Mr. Poolo commenced his address, Mr. Payne (organiser for the Prohibition League) made an appeal for financial support. Ho, said that the funds for tlio campaign were at present in a low state. Ho also expressed disappointment at the smallncss of the attendance, which he considered an indication of apathy on tho part of the Christchuroh public. Mr. Poolo said that he did not regard tho small attendance as any sign of apathy among the people—it was very early in tlio campaign yet, and he had seen other causes with, apparently, no greater enthusiasm at that early stage, carried to. a triumphant conclusion when the time camo for it. He expressed the opinion that the outlook , in Xew Zealand generally was good. He .'"'urged that tho result of the coming poll would never bo in doubt if the people who stood for tho moral uplifting of tho country would stand shoulder to shoulder.
