There has been pome activity in the local wlicat market durine the past few dais, a considerable quantity changing hands between merchants up to 3s. Gd. f.o.b. Tho Timaru market is reported to have advanced to a similar extent. There is still little wheat oli'erins by farmers, those who are still holders bcinp evidently satisfied to await for further developments in the market.
Oats and chaff are firm, and tbc only business iloins is for local requirements, as prices tor both are above shinning level. Potato buyers arc still lioldinc olf the market in consequence of tho northern outlets being blocked with supplies. The nominal quotations are 655. to 70?., growers, however, not beiim willing to accept less than the hißhor figure, and few will even sell at that price.
