S.S. MONOWAI'S EXPERIENCE.
GROPING IN A FOG. (By Telegraph.—PreES Association.) Napier, May 10. While steaming down the coast this morning, between Gisborne and Napier, the steamer Monowai encountered thick weather, and a heavy mist hung over the =»a at the time. Her position, however, was regarded as perfectly secure, when, suddenly, the mist temporarily cleared, and it was seen that the vessel was headin" towards the shore, on which breakers we're plainly visible. Tho engines were reversed, and, after proceeding about a mile out to sea, she headed- towards Napier, and arrived without unusual delay.
