THE OIL STOVE.
A COOKING DEMONSTRATION. A visit to an ironmongery establishment' is always interesting to a woman. There is so much (hat is fascinating, either in tho way of contrivances for making housework easier, for making the. home cosy and comfortable for tho occupants, or .else in viewing the handsome and ever-changing brasswork, which never fails in its appeal to the up-to-date housewife. Yesterday, however,. at 13. AY.' Mills and Company's shoir-fodms' in Victoria Street, there was added to its various attractions a unique display of cooking, with the most recent invention in oil 'stoves." A lady expert was in attendance, and half-a-dozen of these stoves, with or without tho oven attachment, were in full swing, baking bread, cakes, and scones, boiling kettles and various other things that are dono in tho ordinary preparation of meals, as well as heating irons. • Tho cooking results looked most attractive, and wero certainly a recommendation of the cooking qualities of the stoves/ to say nothing of tho chef. There were many visitors during the afternoon, and all expressed themselves as delighted with the capabilities of the stove. . Throughout the exhibition, which lasted from two to live, the stoves and .nil about them were spotlessly clean. They are under perfect control, and their working is simple. An important thing to bo noted and remembered is the fact thac their 'upkeep is about half tho cost of tho wood or coal that is used in the ordinary stove. There is no smoko or smell, and no danger connected with their use, while tho ■ possible reduction of kerosene durin" the winter is likely to make them extremely popular. The demonstration is quite- free and open to the public, and will be continued to-day from two to five.
