KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
o The ordinary meeting of the Kairan'a County Council was held this week. Present : Messrs. Moody (chairman), Mayo, Wilsher, Collis, Yc4\ Bryant, Batche'.ar, Anderson, and O'Loughlin. Correspondence was received from tli; Minister for Public Works stating that the request, that the Government should take uver the (Jorge Koad would receive consideration.
Th« Department of Agriculture intimated that the council's application for the renewal of n meat export license was receiving attention. Cr. Yiiss and the engineer were appointed lo inspecttlie road recently formed through Mr*. Slack's property with n view to taking it over, and .Councillor Collis and the engineer were appointed to inspect the work applied for by Mr. R. D. Knight. ' .
It was decided to instruct the ranger to resmnp full duly as from Monday next with a view to keeping stock off the roads of the county, in the Mangaone riding.
It was decided to communicate with the Pahiiilna County Council with a view to securing Hip eld toll house in the gorge ns a house for the roadman on that section, so that he will not have to travel
so far to his work. The engineer was instructed to sec to the block in the creek on the road opposite the property of H. I'abian, and the councillors l'nr the Maiiynonc riding were authorised to ile-il with the application for assistance in flic erection of a hor.-e trough at Biinnythorpe, made- by Mr. ,T. Srheidt. •
Renewals of read leases were granted to Messrs. J-I. .Tones. D. Rowlands,'S. Boddy. C. fJore, H. Fabian, J. Brady, C. Slack, F. P. M'Kae. 0. I.itz, Wilton" Bros., Meldon Bros., C. Can.. J. Faulkner, J. Scheldt. F. Thompson, and .1. Major. The engineer's report was read and adopted.
.It was resolved that Councillors Batchelar and Bryant and the engineer report on tho wash-out at. Tiritea Tthat the engineer erect a low training wall above the Kaitawa Bridge; that another horse, dray, and harness be purchased for the Pitzherbert riding; that an overdraft of cESOOfI bo arranged for; that the engineer get Cameron's Line repaired, and call for tenders for metalling Milson's line; and that the concrete culvert on Foxton Line be constructed as soon as possible.
