HOUSES TO LET.
IN GREATER WELLINGTON. CITY COUNCIL FIGURES. The following statistics were given after the census as to the number of dwellings in the city and suburbs but excluding Miramar, Onslow, and Ivarori, and adjacent boroughs:— Inhabited 13,963 Uninhabited 938 In course of erection 79 Total dwellings 14,980 Instructions were given by the Mayor that a complete verification, of these figures should be made These instructions -were carried ou't on Friday and Saturday Inst. In all, 308 streets were inspected, the whole city being covered, with the exception of the business quarter of the city. The figures given in the report work out as under:— Number of dwellings 13,05-1 Uninhabited 480 Included in the 490 are the following numbers of empty houses in the outlying districts: Wadestown i Northland 13 Kelburr.e 12 Taitviile • i Mitchelltown 8 Brooklyn ! 33 Happy Valley 2 Vogellown 3 Mornington 2 ■ Melrose 3 Island Bay 31 Roseneath.- Hataitai, Kilbirnie, • • and Marariui 49 Total 167 ,
