There is a recrudescenco of the trouble in the Yorkshire wool trade, owing to the employers refusing to advanco wages and reduce the number of hours. Twelve thousand Huddersfield weavers are balloting on tho question whether ftej shall cease work or accept tho Board of Trade's 1 arbitration. NON-POLITICAL UNIONISM. Melbourne, May 9. A movement to establish free noh« political trades unionism has been started. The prospect is encouraging. BUTCHERS' UNION CONFERENCE, Sydney, May 9. Tho annual meeting of the Federal Council of tho Australasian Federated; Butchers' Smployees' Union has opened. An application for affiliation has been received froin New Zealand, and the council will consider it. MINERS AT VARIANCE. (Ree. May 10, 0.40 a.m.) Sydney, May 9. The Coai and Shale Miners' Federation of Now South Wales is threatened with dissolution. • On a. ballot being taken by tho Northern Miners' Federation, tlio strongest division decided not to continue its affiliation. The federation was created in August,' 100!), Mr. Peter Bowling being prominent in its formation.
