} ALLEGED TREATING AND BRIBERY. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright London, May 8. The hearing of the petition against tho return of Captain J J A. Morrison (Unionist) for the Nottingham East seat has commenced. There aro hundreds of charges of treating and illegal payment, and 310 cases of alleged bribery under tho guiso of charity. It is also said that partakers in a torchlight procession were paid. THE BARNSTAPLE SEAT. London, May 8. The election for the Barnstaple (Devonshire) seat in the House of Commons, rendered necessary by the appointment of the sitting member, Sir Ernest Soares, to a post in the Treasury, resulted in the > return of Mr. Baring (Liberal). The voting was:— Kr. Baring (Liberal) 6239 Mr. C. S. Parker (Unionist) 5751 At the genera] election in December last, Sir (then Mr.) Ernest Scares (Liberal) defeated Mr. Parker by 6047 votes to 5155.
