MONTREAL TO AUSTRALIA. By TeleEraph-l'ress Association-Copyright (Rec. May S, 9.20 p.m.) London, May 8. The "Shipping Gazette" stales that inquiries are being made at Liverpool for six steamers of 7000 to 8000 tons deadweight on time charter, for trading between Montreal and Australia.
The "Gazette" adds that doubtless a good share of the traffic to Australia, which has hitherto been passing via New York, could be profitably dealt with at Montreal.
