PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. London, March 30. Mr. F. W. Maunsell, of Masterton, has taken his M.B. degree at Cambridge University. Miss Mary Blair, daughter of the late Mr. W. N. Blair, of Dunedin, has passed her final examination as M.D. at Loudon University. Wilding and Ritchie gained an easy win in,the South of France Doubles Championship, beating M. Decugis and H. Kleinschroth 6-1, 6-3, 6-2. Miss Grace Morrow, fifth daughter of tho late Mr. Edward W. Morrow, of Wellington, was married at St. John Baptist's, Kensington, last Thursday week, to Mr. William Mackenzie Haigh. Mr. and Mrs. F. Waymouth, and Miss Waymouth, of Fendalton, Christchurch, who arrived by tho lonic, intend going to Cornwall in about a month's time, and will remain there until they return to London for the Coronation. From Mr. Charles Ranson, of Auckland, who is at present in Glasgow, comes the news that tho new steamer Ihumata, built in Antwerp, left for Melbourne on Sunday week, after filling her coal bunkers at Newcastle-on-Tyne. Mr. Ranson will remain in this country to look after the building of another steamer to the order of B. S. Lamb and Co., of Sydney. Professor Bickertan is still at Maitland Hall, Lcinstcr Gardens. Tho last six numbers of the "English Mechanic" havo contained much correspondence on the professor's theory of impact. His book. "The Birth of Worlds and Systems," which has a preface by Professor Ernest Rutherford, is published in Harper's Library of. Living Thought. The High Commissioner for New Zealand attended the annual dinner of the Institution of Civil Engineers, held in London recently. Mr. Charles 11. Chapman, late of AVellington, is arranging a series of addresses in London. The first will be delivered at Clapham early in April. Mr. Chapman will probably remain in England until the end of the summer. By cable from Rangoon last week came news of the wedding of Miss Dorothy Freshwater, only daughter of Mr. H. F. Freshwater, secretary and London manager of the National Bank of New Zealand. Miss Freshwater was married. on March 18 at the Cantonment Church, Rangoon, to Mr. Frank Burton Leach, of the Indian Civil Service.

Tho High Commissioner for New Zealand was one of the signatories of tho address presented to the King last week, along with a specially-bound' Bible, by a deputation representing various religious bodies throughout the Kingdom, on' the occasion of the Tercentenary of the Authorised Version of the Bible in English. Sir AVilliam Hall-Jones was unable to accompany tho deputation to the Palace. A. C. Palmer, L. B. Stringer, and P. L. Footo, New Zealand medical students in London, played for the United Hospitals last Thursday in the Rugby match against a team of Irish medicals at Richmond. United Hospitals won bv 21 points to 3. 1 aimer scored one of the tries after a fine swerving run, and he also kicked three goals from tries. "The Times" cnac, commenting on the plav of the New Zealand backs, remarks:—"Stringer, wlw has both pace and cleverness, and always docs the right thing, can adapt nimselt to any climatic conditions, and it is not easy to understand why so brilliant and sound a wing-three-quarter has not yet been tried for England.
