MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Business at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday was quickly disposed of. An elderly man, named Nicholas Easberbrook Thomas, was charged with forging the mime of A. E. Thomas to n chetiu-j for .£9B. and uttering the same to the National Bank at Newton, Aucklanil, on April 20. Chief Detective Broberg asked" that 'accused ta remanded to appear at Auckland to-morrow, and the Magistrate granted the remand. Thomas King was charged with criminal assault on a girl 8 years of age at Mangaweka on March H last. On tho application of Chief Detective Broberg a'ceused was remanded to apnear at the Magistrate's Court, Mangaweka, tc-morrow morning. John Magee, charged with drunkenness and with nsinjr improper language, pleaded guiltv. He was convicted, and discharged for drunkenness, but, for using tho language mentioned, he was .fined- £3, with witness's expenses,. 'Is., in default, 21 days' imprisonment. Terence M'Alear, against whom there were numerous previous convictions, pleaded guilty to two charges of entering licensed premisss during tho currency of a. prohibition order, and also admitted that he was. an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient lawful means of support. .For each breach of the order a fine of 20s. was imposed, the alternative being 7 days' imprisonment. On the charge of vagrancy ;'. sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed.

John Douglas, charged with drunkenness, was declared .-.n habitual inebriate, and sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment.

Thomas Troy, who admitted being found drunk while a prohibition order was in force against him, was warned by the Magistrate that he was qualifying for the Inebriates' Home at Eotoroa. For breach of the order he was fined JOs., • with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment, and, on the charge of drunkenness, ■■ ho was convicted and discharged. , Henry Pankhurst, for drunkenness, iivns , fined. 205.,' in default seven days' imprisonment.

Ruby Kirk, alias Pressor, and .Kathleen Stanley, ■ each ■ pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness, and each was fined 55.,' with tho ' alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment. lii the case of Malcolm Hindle, charged with drunkenness, a fino of 10s. was imposed, tho alternative being' JS hours' imprisonment. JUVENILE COURT. In the Juvenile Court on Saturday, two little girls, aged 10 years and 7 years respectively, wero' charged with theft of a purse'and money, valued at f:3 16s. lid., the property of Florence Hoy. The purss and a sovereign had been found in the possession of the girls, the elder of whom was convicted and ordered to be placed in- St. Joseph's Orphanage, the father to refund £2 16s. lid., and to contribute Is. 3d. a week towards Hie support of the- girl. . The other child was discharged.
