THE NEW REMEDY.. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ■ Christchurch, May 6. Elsie Joan Atkinson, a well-dressed young *oman, for whom Mr. A. S. Taylor appeared, pleaded guilty to tho theft, on Stay 3, of .£-4 10s. in money, and a gold" ting,-valued at £5 10s., the property of /lofence Biltclift. Mr. Taylor said accused's parents and Wends had done all they could for her, out she was morally deficient. . Chief-Detective Bishop said accused had been- in the habit of borrowing money ind not repaying it. She had been at jlrs. Biltcliff's house, nnd had seen the money lying there. She had : left the house, but had come back and broken into; it and removed the' money. Accused was ordered to be detained it Lyttelton Gaol for two years for reformatory treatment, and to be kept jpart from ; the other prisoners.
