MAN SEVERELY HURT.
Mathias Clatworthy, , G2 years of ago, residing at Banks Terrace, nick with a, seycro accident shortly before 3 p.m. yesterday. Ho was at tho time employed by the Harbour Board in connection with tho work of .repairing, No. 3 berth at the end of the Queen's Wharf. It appears that Clatworthy and another man wcro engaged in swinging a heavy .beam, (measuring 16 ( inches by 10 inches, by 33 feet) into position by means.of a hydraulic crane, it is said that tho. usual practice is for a. guide, ropo to bo attached to tho beams for the purpose of .steadying them whilst they aro boing placed in position,, but whether .this was done in this instance or not, it. seems that tho beam, swinging round, . caught Clatworthy breaking two ribs and causing other injuries. Dr. Henry attended the caso and ordered his removal to tho hospital. Mr. Clatworthy is ail old'resident of Wellington, and was at oho time a partner in the firm of Paul and Clatworlhy, shipwright's, who had a slip od tho site now occupied b,v the baths at To Aro.
