A MYSTERIOUS CENSOR
MR, NORTH AND PICTURE SHOWS. Further information is sought in Palmorston concerning tho Rev. J. J. North's revised version of his statement concerning the supposed censorship of kinematograph films in that town. Mr. North's amended statement, it will be remembered, was that "one of the municipal officers—tbo secretary of the hall, ho thought—went out of his way to point out to him (Mr. North) that a kinematograph censorship was in operation." This statement has aroused much curiosity in Palmerston, which is voiced by tbo "Daily Times" thus:
"This.explanation makes it apparent that somebody, in Palmerston told Mr. North something, but it does not appear to be yet very clear who or what it was. Of the 'halls' hero only two have pictures—the Zcalandia aud His Majesty's—ami there is no 'secretary' to cither of these, while both managers repudiato having made, any Mich statement. Surely, it cannot 'be that all Mr. North remembers of Palmorston'is wonderful Opera House, is that it is 'a hall' —a mere common or garden 'hall.' Perish the thought, and even supposing that the Opera Hoiist is so designated,'which of all tho dignitaries connected with it, from the Opera House Committee to the stage hands, is the 'secretary'?" Mr. North is finally asked by the "Times" to define tho "secretary" moro closely, "and say what he really was secretary of."
