Tlie local museum having been set on its feet financially speaking, after a long struggle against debt, the trustees arc now able to turn their attention to enlarging the building. Additions are badly needed on account of the continuous growth of the collection, and the trustees' proposals provide for increasing tho present accommodation by about fifty per cent. Among recent acquisitions'by the Museum is a splendid collection, of Australian ores, including gold, silver, copper, lead, iron, and others.

The Conciliation Board sat hero today to inquire into tho engine-drivers , dispute. Tho Borough Council and Harbour Board were granted exemptions, provided things continue to pay tho present rato of wages and observe the preseut hours of labour. Tho Wanganui Freezing Company and the Wangainii Fire Brigade were struck out, and it was decided to recommend the Arbitration Court to graut exemption to Hatrick and Company.
