THE'INCREASE OVER 21,000 TOTAL TOPS SIX FIGURES. The population of Greater Auckland ia 109,781. In five years it has increased by 21.7H, and in ten years by 37,558. . Tlib results of tilts census in llio borough of ]3irkcnliead were ascertained to-day, and an accurate- statement of tho population of the city mid of its suburbs is now possible. The following table- shows in detail tho population of tho various boroughs and of the other suburban areas comprising Greater Auckland, and nl?o the results, of previous censuses. It will bo noticed that, tho number of Chinete residents has ba-u added to tho European population, but no nllowanco lias been mauo fur tho Maoris resident in the nrea. The figures for the city oi Auckland iucludo "00, persons who were on shipboard at the port on tho night of the last census, 815 who wore similarly situated at the census of 3900, and 921 who wero returned uuder the heading of "shipping" in 1001 :—
