THOUSANDS HOMELESS. By Tc!eErai>h—Press Association—CopyrieM / New York, May 1. At Bangor, in the State of Maine, a firo caused damage to tho extent of a million dollars (.0200,0(10). Two persons aro known to have been killed and several firemen aro missing. Fifty peopto were injured. Thousands are homeless. ■ Bangor is tho third city in the State of Maine, and is commanilingly situated ion the' Penobscot River, at tho licai of navigation, some sixty miles up from the sea. It is a place of over 20,000 inhabitants, nnd its chief industry is tho sawing and siiipment of timber, about 150 million feet of lumber being annually surveyed here, mainly from the vast forests of North Maine.
