A RISING WAGES BILL. By Tolesrapn-Press Association-Cbpyrieht (Rec. , May 2, 9.20 p.m.) Sydney, May 2. In supporting an application for exemption from a Wages Board award a. railway contractor declared that he. took a contract three years ago when the wages for pick and shovel work wore seven shillings a day, instead of 9s. Gd. as now awarded. Tho wages for higher grades of Work had also been proportionately increased.
