Suspicions circumstances surround tho origin of an outbreak of firn which occurred at noon yesterday in the Salvation Army Roscue Home, Parnell, and (lie police were investigating the matter during the afternoon. Smoke rising from a portion of the roof attracted the attention of an officer returning from town, and when she had given the alarm flames were discovered in the nltic attacking the timbers supporting the roof and threatening the walls. Energetic steps were taken to put the fire out promptly, and fortunately damage to the extent of about -£1# was tho only result of Hie outbreak. Tho attic was seldom used even as a storeroom, and the oflicers in charpe of the home are at a loss to account for the incident)
