REV. MR. NORTH ON PICTURES.

WHAT SORT OF CENSOR? The appointment of a censor of kinematcgraph films was strongly advocated by the Rev. J. J. North in Christcliurch last wc-ek. He stated that, except in the case o£ municipal theatres, tho public have no guarantee that something objectionable will not be introduced at picture shows. When he was in Palmerston North recently, ho was informed that a municipal officer theri inspected the films used in tho municipal theatre, and had to reject large numbers sent out from the Old Country. A proper officer should be appointed, he urges, and ho should bo not a prude, but "a wholesome,' happy man, who knows honest laughter from, dirty laughter."
