TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
A SUGGESTION FftOll CIIIUSTCIIUUCU. An interesting suggestion from the Cliristclmri'li Technical College on the. subject of special scholarships for technical school students was submitted to the Wellington Technical School Hoard; at its meeting last evening. Tho Christchurch Hoard, in a letter, asked the cooperation of tho Wellington Hoard in Approaching !the Government with a. view to the establishment of scholarship:! to enable pupils from clay -technical schools to continue their education at higher technical institutions,- such as the. Canterbury College School of Engineering. It was pointed out that while tho Government had established university scholarships open for competition amongst pupils in secondary schools, thero were nono for which pupils in day technical schools were at present eligible, to enable them to carry on their education te. a higher standard. It was obvious that tho course of training which they underwent was such as. to preclude them from competing on equal terms for the. present university scholarships. Consideration of tho matter was deferred for a- future meeting,
