THE WELLINGTON CHORAL SOCIETY.

Haydn's famous oratorio, "Tho Creation, 1 ' to be given.in the Town Hall next Friday by the Wellington Choral Society, under tho direction of Mr. Maughan Barnett, promises to rival sonio of tho best concerts the society has yet given. Last evening a band of seme 40 performers and a chorus of 180 voices practised tho music together. Their regard to the finer points of music showed that Mr. Barnett's coaching has given them an artistic conception of the great work, and it is little wonder that the conductor expressed satisfaction at the excellence of tho rehearsal. There are to bo rehearsals on Monday in St. John's, and the final on Thursday in the Town Hall. This fact alone is sufficient to indicate that tho society intends to givo tho public of its best. Tho box plan is open at tho Dresden, where 2s. seats, as well as 3s. seats, can be reserved.. One shilling tickets can also bo obtained at the box office. Tho doors will bo opened at 7.20, and patrons are reminded that tho; performance will commence punctually at 8 o'clock. Tho soloists taking part arc Mrs. Gower Burns, of Christehurch, Mr. Harold E. S. Browning, of Melbourne, and Mr. E. J. Hill, of this city.
