ST. PAUL'S DORCAS SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING,

Tho annual meeting of the St. Paul's Dorcas Society was held yesterday afternopn, Miss'Coates presiding. OlQccrs for tho ensuing year wero elected as follow:—President, Mrs. Sprott; vicepresidents, Mrs. Larnach and Miss Coates; secretary Mrs. Carter; committee, Mosdamos Sprott, Carter, Warren, Larnach, King, Edwin, Dixon, Kennedy, and Burton. Mrs. Newman resigned from the committee owing to ill-health. Tho balance-sheet for tho ■year ended March 31 showed tho receipts (including a balance of £8 Is. brought forward) to be £115 lis. Id., and the expenditure £106 . 13s. Bd., leaving a balance at tho bank of £8 3s. 7d., and cash in hand 13s. _10d. The report and balance-sheet, which wero considered very satisfactory, were adopted, and asoecial voto of thanks to Mrs. Warren for her keen interest in the society and her untiring work in the parish was carried unanimously. Mrs. Newman, on behalf of the members, expressed great pleasure at the election of the Rev. T. H. Sorott to the bishopric of AVellington. ■"■ The loss of the leadership of Mrs. Sprott in _ the woman's work of the parish, would, however, be very severely felt; but it was a pleasure to feel_ that bv Mr. Sprott's removal to a higher sphere of duty he and

Mrs. Sprott would not be entirely lost to the parish. A motion in accordance with Mrs. Newman's remarks was unanimously carried. Thanks were expressed to Dr. Izard for medical attendance, to the Two-Garment Society for clothes, to Mrs. Quick, and Messrs. Russell,' Picot, and Coates for coal, the Misses Oswin for making garments, and various other ladies for gifts of clothing,' etc. ,It was stated that- 248 articles were made by the Dorcas Society during the year.
