ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
P v DISTRESSING EVENT AT KELBURNE. Ronald Black, a lad 17 years of age, was found hanging in the bathroom at his parents' residence yesterday afternoon, and when medical aid was summoned, life was extinct. Deceased was the son of Mr. J. W. Black, private secretary to the Hon. D. Buddo, and resided with his parents at Grove Road, Kolburne. He was a pupil of Banks's Commercial College, and, after attending classes yesterday morning, arrived home at 12.30 p.m. and had dinner with his mother and sister, his father being away from the city on business. He left the tablo at 1.15 p.m., and went towards the bathroom. As he appeared to bo in his usual health at the time, this attracted no particular attention, and his-mother and sister afterwards imagined that he had returned to the school. About an hour later, his mother made the distressing discovery indicated above. Drp. Martin and Herbert, who were telephoned for, arrived soon nftor, but could only prnnomice life , extinct. An inquest will bo held to-day. MISHAP ON R.M.S. MAITAI. When the. R.M.S. Maitai was ten days out from Wellington on tho downward run from San Francisco, a steward named H. Rose .slipped down a com-panion-way and. sustained internal injuries. Ho was brought ashore yesterday. STATIONMASTER INJURED.' Mr Day. stationmaster at Kew Ply. mouth, met with a. painful accident on Saturday morning whilst coming into town on the train from the breakwater. The train suddenly slowed down, and Mα-. Day looked outside to ascertain the cause, when the wagon door, which was on slides, shut owing to the stoppage of the train, and caught Mr. Day's herul, with the. result that his enr was badly lacerated and almost torn off.
