FROM CAPT. CAIUS CRUTCHLEY.

A EIGHT CHEERY LETTER. Captain Cains Cvutchley, formerly well known in the New Zealand-London trade, recently retired from the position of secretary of tho Kavy League after years of service. As an evidence of osteons, the branches of tho league in New Zealand combined in making him a prefenfatipn, which he acknowledges in the following letter to Mr. Cecil Palmer, of Wellington:— "I have written many letters to yon in my time, but never on* that gave me so much trouble, for I am completely at a for words to thank you and ycir colleagues for the kindly thought which prompted the letter'of December .11, with its accompanying gift. But you know the kindly feeling I have towards New Zealand and my many friends there, and I would ask you to express to your fellow secretaries my warmest thanks for wha , .1 must consider their token of apW'i'tion of my work for the Xavy i -is.:e. You and youv fellow-worWs can justly claim to have done thing.-. . . . You have educated the thinking people in naval matters, and you see thn fruit of your labour. I fear there is little doubt that gr.eat trouble is in the near future. Look which way one may, there is only one encouraging sign, and that is that Britons one and all have made up their minds to stand or fall together. But I for one do not believe we can fall—"ln the days of Armageddon, at tho last crc'at fight of all." , Concluding, the letter states:—"There are a great many cranks and faddists in this country, but it is swiul at heart and, if we. take counsel with our kinsmen oversea, and work together, there is not the Power in existence that can lower that grand old cross of St. George."
