FEILDING ITEMS.
Perfect weather prevailed for tho Coronation fete held in the South Street Kescrve, in aid of the funds cf the Beautifying Society. It is expected that a profit of .C3U will be thfc result. The total population of the district (comprising Oroua, Pohangina, and Kiwitea Counties) as disclosed by the census, is 11,326. The figures for the feveral counties as as follow.—Oroua (including Feilding Borough), 6745; Pohangina, 1700; Kiwitea. 2782. The population of the Oroua electorate is 10,098—a reduction on l?.st census of 177. A prominent resident cf this district, who does not wish his nauie mentioned, has donated a cup for the Feilding Hockey Association's competition. The cup is to be won outright. There was wonderfully even voting over the wliole fourteen candidates for tho Borough Council, there being n difference of only 130 votes between the candidates at the top nnd at the bottom of the poll. Councillor.Murphy is a recent arrival, and is well known in Wellington, where he wns on the staff of Messrs. Bell, Gully, Bell alitl Myers. Councillors Richmond. Harford, Ongley, Sayn-ell, and Barry were on Ihe outgoing council.
